Active Scotland was founded in 1995 by a group of fitness enthusiasts who were concerned about the low levels of physical activity in their local community. The charity started out as a small grassroots organization, organizing local fitness classes and sports events to encourage people to get active.
Over the years, Active Scotland grew in size and influence, and became known for its innovative approach to promoting physical fitness. In 2005, the charity launched its flagship program, “Fit for Life”, which provided free fitness classes and nutritional advice to people of all ages and fitness levels.
In 2010, Active Scotland partnered with the Scottish government to launch a national campaign to combat childhood obesity. The campaign was a huge success, and helped to raise awareness of the importance of healthy eating and regular exercise for children’s health.
In recent years, Active Scotland has expanded its reach beyond Scotland, and now works with partner organizations in other parts of the UK and around the world. The charity’s ultimate goal is to create a world where everyone has access to the tools and resources they need to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
